Help!,my remote alarm arming has packed up,keys & roof receiver have been tested & passed ok.The code has apparently "fallen out". I have
been given 2 theories on fixing the problem. 1:Recode the system via the roof receiver by prodding the indent button with a 4 figure code(have tried unsuccessfully,no alfa i.d card with car, only vague scribblings in handbook) 2:Take the car to a main dealer who can apparently recode the system by plugging it into a computer & waggle the master key about,is this costly, or correct? mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org@yahoo.co.uk</a>
the 4 digit code was not on a card as far as i can remember it was on a little sticky label that came with the keys when the car was new and looked something like 2-0-2-3 (obviously this is a made up code. This does not help you one bit does it.
Thanks for helping to avoid a trip to the dreaded main dealer chaps, have since found TWO four digit codes(separated by dots, presumably correct)hidden in the service book.will resume prodding & hope one of them works! Coincedently the central locking also failed to operate remotely along with the alarm, although it does work manually.I assume these are linked & that recoding will re-enable both systems?
The procedure is listed here somewhere but from memory you have to press the button on the roof receiver until the LED flashes. Then enter the first number as a series of presses on the button, wait for another flash and enter the next number etc etc.
