went up to Derby today.. about 170 miles or something.. anyway.. the car was fine on the way there...however...on the way back it started to splutter when i slowed down or tried to pick up revs.. instead of being smooth like usual it would either be slow picking up revs or start missing... had a few pops out of the exhaust too..im kinna worried... any one have any ideas?
could it be anything to do with the injection system? my knowledge of engines is pretty limited... how much would it cost to replace a fuel pump at trade price? ill have to get it looked at pretty sharpish i think
Like i said, check your intake system
and inspect the filter,if its grubby
It could be a variety of things really,
intake,fuel return valve,lambda.
If you're not mechanically minded
i suggest getting a reputable mechanic
to give you a diagnosis before you start
lol yea, ill take it down the garage we use at work..no chance im going anyway near the engine, i couldnt even get the ECU out.. if anything eneds doing it wont cost me an arm and a leg then. thanks for the advice anyways, means i can give the mechanic a few pointers as to what might be wrong
If you have a 16 valve it could be the leads. They earth under the cover and make the car miss, if you take the cover off you may be able to see some scorch marks where the leads have earthed. Or try running the car without the cover at night and look for some sparks.
