Long V6 brake pedal

Another of those comparison questions...

The brake pedal on my '96 V6 travels quite away before the brakes bite, whereas on my '97 16v it hardly moves before the brakes start to grab hold.

This usually means that after driving the V6, I put my head into the windscreen when using the 16v first off.

There's nothing wrong with the V6 brakes once they bite, and there's no air in the system or anything like that.

Are the other people's V6 the same?

Have they always been like that? It's not just down to worn pads is it? Also, have you ever had the brake fluid flushed / changed? Brake fluid absorbs water over time, and water is 'squishier' than brake fluid and will give you a soft pedal...

A couple of things for you to consider anyway!

Check your rear discs Iv got to replace mine this week .....Lack of feeling and notchy/snappy on application are the obvious signs...
Do the pads as well of course.
Im fitting APEC items to the rear as they're fab quality, fit perfectly and are half the price of OE....But Id recomend Better ones for the front...

You might consider changing the flexible brake hoses as they deteriorate with age.I had this problem with my previous 2.0 16v and used stainless flexibles to great effect. As in previous messages change the fluid at the same time.
