water in oil and oil in water
I have been doing lots of silly little trips about town lately and I have noticed hat I now have what appears to be a mayonnaise like sludge around the oil filler cap, and greyy yellow slime in the coolant header tank.
Now, as this is a sign of head gasket failure, I am a little concerned. The sludge in the oil goes away after a good highspeed blat with the engine oil getting good and hot, the coolant sits at about 1cm below the seam in the coolant header tank. And it is stationary there.
If I fill the header tan fully up to the line marked it just disappears down to this same level, and is then fine. When I take off the coolant header tank cap after a run I get the required burst of hot gas escaping and the level goes up a little bit.
Now to the question.
As this is a problem that seems to be getting worse, What kinda cash am I looking at for my V6 getting abloody good going over from a specialist or talented type of garage for a double head gasket replacement, de-coke, new cam belt and a thorough service?
Any ideas, costs, advice warmly received?
