Since my 155 is sitting around doing nothing much at the moment (just like me right now!) - see Dead 155 (http://18.104.22.168/forum/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=001502), I might as well sort out those minor things which I have been putting off like the ash tray door not closing. How does the mechanism work? and how do I get to it?
And the interior light doesn't always come on when the doors open. Is there relay somewhere? - not according to the owner's manual. It happens on all the doors so it's not the switches. Any ideas?
Not so minor. The car has a tendency to jump out of 4th gear after hard acceleration (in 4th to the point that I nolonger use 4th for accelerating). It would stop jumping out after awhile. Could this be the cause of death! She is fine when just cruising around. The actual problem seems to be that 4th isn't engaging properly. I pull back the stick and it just does go back all the way no matter what I do and it would just pop back forward even if I don't acelerate. Properly something wrong with the selector. I might as well get this sorted with the engine.
Re. the 4th gear problem: it might be the pivot for the gear linkage on the front subframe. Apparntly it has a nylon bushing that wears, leading to all kinds of gearchange problems. Mate of mine was stuck in 2nd when the bush broke. Well, the car's gearbox was, not him personally.
sorry i havent read this before.......
the gear problem is the linkage where it fits on the top of the steering rack..it doesnt have a bush and thats the problem..it seizes on the rack pin when you give it a bootfull the linkage cant move so it pulls it out of gear....i did post on this a while ago with piccys,it can be a right old job to get it freed off because its not easy to get to and there is a risk of breaking the top pin off the rack. eek!
