I don't think it's hydraulic; the actuator wouldn't move, or would just move a bit - I think it's operating across it's full range of movement. It's deffo not the slave as it's dry as a bone.
I think the oil leak is unrelated, I've just pulled the gearbox drain and there was plenty of oil in there (Thank the good Lord).
Spoke to the mechanic at AlfaAid, he reckoned the same as JB and agha33 - Pressure plate or release bearing so i'll be pulling the thing at the weekend then.
Thanks for the pricing Fletch, I've got a new clutch though cos it's sounds like I'm never going to want to do this job again - the garage is quoting 6.5 hours with a ramp, knowledge and decent tools.
Anyone actually done this b4? Whats the score? I'm thinking:
-Remove front wheels.
-Remove Suspension Wishbones (They need replacing so I may as well - have got the replacements in the boot!).
- Separate hubs from McStruts.
- Remove the ring of Allen-Bolts securing driveshafts to gearbox (?)
- Remove the driveshafts.
- Battery and box out.
- Starter motor off.
- Separate downpipes from manifold.
- Front N/S engine mount off.
- Remove gerbox bolts an gearbox.
Sound about right? Can I get the box in and out on my own or will I need help to lift it? Does it come straight out or do you have to orient it before lifting it out?
Sounds like it's gonna be a long weekend, hope it doesn't rain!
