Lambda probe again

I the lambda probe is suspected of playing up, then if you disconnect it altogether will the car run on preset values within the ecu or will it make the car run even worse. Is it a good idea to disconnect the lambda and see if the car runs any smoother if so then the lambda is the cause of the cars bad running.

Any comments on the above by anyone who has done this before.

Cheers wink

mine is the same at moment , i think you might put a fault on the ecu if you dissconnect it while in daily use that will need resetting after new one fitted but im just guessing.

if you disconnect the Lambda Probe, you have to ground the line coming from the ECU, otherwise it will run on the last parameters.

It's quite easy to find out if it works or not.

Attach a digital voltmeter to the connected Lambda Probe. Readings have to fluctuate in between 0,2 and 0,9 volts within a second or so. If the reading is static, the Lambda has dried up.

The car will revert to "limp home mode" as far as I know.

Ian, what are you symptoms?
