engine "feature"

Hello fellow alfisti,

I am interested if everyone's 155 does this.
When the engine is coming from about 2000 revs to idle, the revs drop a little below 1000 then sometimes rev up to about 1200 or 1300 and then fall to little below 1000 and settle. Coming to idle from more than 3000 revs does not do that. And sometimes the revs fluctuate more sometimes less, and sometimes they don't. Otherwise there are no problems with the car, no lost power etc..
Oh yeah i almost forgot, my engine is 1.8 TS 16v.

I am asking this, because my cousin's Cordoba and my Boss'es Audi 100 do not do this. Maybe the variator has something to do with this?

Had that on my 33P4.
Turned out that the AFM was completely out of calibration, far too rich. The oxy sensor had problems to reestablish the correct idle mixture.
After recalibration everything was fine.
Your car, if I remember correctly, has an AMM instead of an AFM, but the principle should be the same.
Nevertheless I would also first check and clean the idle actuator.
