Fuel pump tubing
After investigating the clonking (previous post) I had a look at the fuel system to see if I could find the reason for my fuel starvation. The short answer is that I couldn't and the car will be going to a Bosch specialist for professional diagnosis.
When I took the fuel pump assembly out of the tank I found that between the pump and the mounting plate (where I think there should just be a pipe) was a rubber fuel pipe leading to a coil of copper fuel pipe (4 coils) then another rubber pipe to the mounting plate.
I'm sure this isn't standard and I'm just as sure that this isn't causing the problem, but can anyone think what it might be there for? Presumably someone at some time thought it might benefit preformance somehow?
Sorry, no pictures because the camera batteries went flat and I didn't have the spares charged up.
