Went grovelling under the car on Saturday to try to trace the clonking noise (when going around right hand bends including roundabouts). Checked the wishbone bushes - fine. Checked the balljoint - fine. Hmmm. Then noticed that as I jacked the wishbone up and down (wheel off) the anti-roll bar was moving a lot.
The clonking was the bar hitting the rear wishbone mounting bracket. Comparing right with left I found that part of the mounting is completely missing. There should be two u-shaped brackets - the rubber bush sits on top of one and is retained by a larger one over the top. The one it sits on is missing, so as the car leans to the left there is nothing preventing roll until the anti-roll bar hits the wishbone bracket.
So the question is (there is one - really) does anyone know the part number of this bracket and will a standard rubber bush (it's been bashed around so needs replacing) fit my 26mm anti-roll bar (not sure what size standard is)?
Funny you should mention this one Ian. I installed new wisbones on Saturday, it only took 8hours for both sides( I can hear Jimmybob laughin already), because I was getting a knock up through the floor.
One day after the new wishbones are in the knock is back, and a complete anti roll bar is on order (€45 approx for bar, bushes and end fittings) probably have to remove the wishbones again to get them in - Laugh again Jimmybob
Ian, Sounds like you have Eibach anti roll bas on if they are 26mm. Standard are 22mm. The standard bushes will probably not fit. ring Eibach UK as they can get the uprated bushes for the larger anti roll bars. I think they have to order them from Germany though.
