Regarding removing ABS fuse:
I'll have a look in the bonnet fusegear for the ABS fuse (i've got a 2L 16V WB).
I'm looking to disable the ABS altogether, as im sick of IT deciding when to let go of the brakes and leave me in the sh*t.
Particularly as its coming up to winter, and i had a couple of nasty "im doing 2 miles per hour down this hill and i cant stop coz the brakes wont brake" incidents last year. In ice and snow ABS is a liability. I traveled the full length of the street next to my flat, on a mild incline, for about a minute (felt like an hour) not able to stop coz the ABS kicked in all the way down (you know that noise - a continual gringing groan). At least with the brakes active it would have slid to a halt at that speed and gradient, and i would have been in control. As it was, if something had pulled out in front of me i would have had a painfully slow (but at least not major impact) accident. However slow, it was a frighteneing experience to have no control over the forward motion due to a technological aide taking over.
Now, imagine that a small child had fallen in front of the car, and i hit the brakes... and nothing happens - i would be left with the only option of trying to hit a parked car to slow me down or stop me (if that was available as a choice).
I'm sure ABS has saved lifes in the wet, but im turning mine off this year.
A freind with a 156 found the ABS fuse next to the ABS unit under the bonnet - i'll try looking where Jorge D suggests.
Could do with an accurate description of the right fuse b4 i start poking around though - if anyone knows exactly which is the right one for a 2L 16V (i imagine they're in the same place for all or most with ABS).
Cheers, Honkytonk (Mark).
