Has any one fitted an aftermarket gearnob? e.g momo, sparco etc.
Does the original one need to be sawn off or anything. Is there a method for replacing it. My original one is leather but looking rather tatty. Im keeping the standard black leather gater.
I have, I've put a Momo knob on it but it needs to be sawn of, it's actual better in handling when it's shorter, I took of 4cm, do not take to much of or you won't have the leverage anymore needed to shift right, the gearbox will suffer when you take to much of.
I thought you could just fix Momo ones on to the stick using three little screws set around the bottom of the knob. These are covered by a collar which screws up on to the bottom of the knob. I've only seen this demonstrated though...
From my knowledge on "knobs" I believe that all those found on 155s are generally glued on. The steel rod itself only has a single locating spline for positioning; the glue instead holds it down. Rather than sawing it off you coould try heating up the knowb with a hair-dryer to soften the glue. Alternatively give it a real good yank but be careful not to hit the interior light like I did (I pulled so hard that I couldn't stop in time to avoid the collision ).
