Now I know some of you are already grinning in anticipation of how stupid this question is going to sound, but I'll try and do it justice
As you know, it's a '97 1.8 16V Widebody. Presuming there's different level's of spec for these cars, mine has lekky windows all around and climate control.
I was told when I bought the car that it DOES have Air-Con (private sale), but most of the clues point to it NOT having air-con (It was not a deciding factor on whether I was buying the car or not).
The 1 reason I think it might have air-con, apart from being told when I bought the car, is because of the "Econ" option on the CControl. What's the point of "Econ" if running at full whack isn't using an air-con belt under the bonnet anyhoo?
Reasons why I DONT think it has air-con is because for a start when the climate control temp is down to "Lo", it's not particularly cold on a hot day. This, granted, could be because the freon is stale.
BUT my last car had aircon, and when I turned it on, the engine got noticeably noisier as the aircon unit kicked in. This is the same on any other car I've ever been in with aircon installed.
If I do "Auto" and "Lo" on my car (the two options that I presume would turn on any aircon) I don't get ANY noise increase under the bonnet. It's difficult to the untrained eye to see if the rad below that big plastic front under the bonnet is an aircon rad.
Maybe the answer is a simple "No", and let the slagging commence
but hopefully it's not
