Greetings erom rainey Ireland
Like the rest of you my rev counter was very intermittent.this is how i fixed it.Undo the 2 3mm allen nuts that hold in the instrument panel. The cowling and inst panel now slide forward and out.pull it foreward and twist it gently around so that you can see the back of it .You will see a yellow coloured board with about 11 small nuts they are 5.5mm.Very very very gently turn them each a quarter turn.Only the 3 nuts behind the rev are for the rev but you may as well tighten them all.I cant emphasise enough to be carefull the board is very delicate.Be interesting to see if this cures the other cars.Best of luck.
interesting one that such a simple thing cures an annoying problem. Pity that Mangoletsi didn't think of it when I had the same complaint. Instead, they replaced the whole intrument binnacle [I also had the yellow fuel warning light coming on when it was nowhere near low] at a cost of £400. Luckily was still under warranty!
yeah, been a bit quiet of late - nothing personal! moving house /new job keeping me busy, also i find it difficult to get on the net at work. BTW got my car back from Perry's of aylesbury who have taken a lot of flack [service dept] the bodyshop made an excellent job of repairing the damage caused by moped-boy. i paid an extra £200 and got the front wing and passenger door 'blended in' -looks great, but now shows up the rest of the car! my mates say they can't notice but i am sure you would understand where i'm coming from when i say no-one knows your car like you do. on a more positive note, passed MOT with no probs. sorry to hear that your car got broken into mate. hope not too much damage caused, probably some yobbos paid by all those bmw ****s you've been flying past since you got the V6!!
have the same problem with the rev counter, it functions when I turn on the lights and back window heater otherwise not.
Tried to clean the bottoms of the tiny nuts with sandpaper but no luck, anybody has an idea what further to look?
