Q4 propshaft

I'm after a bit of advice..

Whad mods can be done to the propshaft on a Q4.. I've spoken to a few slightly more race\rally orientated mates & they have suggested lightening & balancing the shaft? I guess this would ideally be done along with the flywheel & clutch plate.

What do you think? what sort of cost is involved with this malarky?

If you are going to get anything like this done, make sure you go to a decent specialist, if you are getting the clutch done it is as well to get the torque splitter checked at the same time. If you are planning on going the modification route , you might want to consider a stronger clutch as well.

cheers steve,

I was hoping to get away with just the propshaft at the moment since it's gotta come off for the main bearing anyway. My budgets kinda bit by bit wink

The only way to lighten a prop shaft is to remove metal off the outer circumference of the shaft. This will make it thinner and if you up the power, you might find it will snap.

a very dirty car

I saw a picture of a prop once that had been on V8 powered car (non alfa) but the prop had not been upgraded. The prop hadn`t just snapped it had twisted like toffee!
