Ask any tyre dealer, If you want to do something to realy wreck the handling of your car what should you do.
They all respond fit Firestone Tyres.
Everyone hates them, they have the worst reputation in the business. Hang on I think theres was an East German company called Pneumant who were worse, standard fit on Skodas and Ladas at one time but these days Skoda would never fit these tyres.
I've got one Kwikfit own make tyre on my 155, got a puncture on a Sunday and well it was the only tyre they had. Noticed after about 10,000Km (6000miles)it was wearing a bit badly too, no problem with the Continental even though it was nearly worn to the limit the other side. Although I understand even a Kwikfit ownbrand Centuar is better than a Firestone.
Try swapping them with the back for a while and monitor wear unless your Firestones all around. Mind the car may handle even worse with grippy front and crappo Firestones on the back. If you can confirm its the tyres, stick em straight back on the front and ware them out.
Otherthan that has your car ever had a prang? Even a relatively minor incident can ruin your chasis alaignment, ruin handling and cause uneven tyre wear.
On tyres, Ive ran Continentals and Pirellis all round. Pirellis are good when new but wear out far to fast as are too soft, also can be easily become distorted before they wear out. Continentals, relatively good tyre, but not as much quite as much grip as you might like.
At the moment got Pirellis P6000 on the back, one GoodYear and a Kwikfit on front. Not Ideal.
But still brakes dead straight and stops pretty sharpish. You might think it would be better with the pirrelis on the Front.
I dont know what the experts say but I recon a good pair of pirellis to tame the back or even Yohohamas if you can get them and something a little more hard wearing on the front is the best way for nuetral handling.
