Can anyone help? I need to replace the rear suspension bushes on my '96 1.8 16V but according to Alfa (Mangoletsi) the whole arm needs replacing (which I sort of expected really!!). Mango's told me there are no arms available in the UK. They are on back order from Italy but no date for arrival can be given. They suggested I try a motor factor for a pattern part but this has drawn a blank. Has anyone got any suggestions?
This appears to be an ongoing problem! My 2.0 16v needs a new N/S rear arm and Mangoletsi are giving a mid August delivery date! My local alfa specialist says that this is the third time he has had to wait months for this part. Good grief this is a consumable! - it should be available off the shelf - just like the 164 arms etc. My car will now fail its MOT and will be off the road for weeks. Anyone know of a secret source? Alfa GB have been no help. I suggest all you 155 owners order a pair now - you will probably need them one day!
suspension arms are nearly always on blumin back order i had to wait 7 weeks for one the customer wasnt happy..try desira motor co. 01379 642121 they normaly have most things in stock and they will post it to you let me know how you get on.
Trypical innit, they all come at once!! I posted about the rear arms a while ago to see if anyone knew about a problem and no-one had any problems! Had the N/S done on the twinny, O/S looked fine. My garage found one the same day so I'll ring them tomorrow and find out where from.

I think the 155 I'm getting has something wrong with the rear suspension so I'll post in here. It has not been crashed and the wheels are fine when measuring them from the front to the back (they're both the same distance from the rear door and the rear bumper, and the wheelbase is perfect on both sides) but the righthandside of the car is 1 finger lower than the lefthandside (as in I can fit 3 fingers between the top of the lefthand wheel and bodywork but only 2 fingers between righthand wheel and bodywork, very scientific ). It may just be a spring or are these the same symptoms as for a bush or an arm ?
Are you sure you need to replace the entire trailing arm? I just had a look at the site of GGB engineering of London and Bradford (www.ggbengineering.co.uk), which Mal kindly pointed out to me as a source for cam locking tools (thanx Mal!). They sell rear trailing arm repair kits for the 155. Check page 4 (out of 5) of the Alfa 155 section.
dont waste your time and skin on bushes they are complete arses to get out,save yourself the bother and change the arm...
..bealzbob sounds like you need one as well jack up the car and hold the wheel at the top and bottom and try to twist it as if you were checking the wheel bearing you shouldnt be able to feel any play.

A Result! I contacted Desira on your advice and although they didn’t have an arm in stock, they got on the Alfa parts database and found one in the UK! Funny how Alfa GB and the main dealers weren’t able to do that! Just underlines that the biggest problem with owning an Alfa is the generally grim after sales support.
For those who haven’t experienced worn bushes on the rear arm, the first sign is obviously a “loose” feeling at the back end under hard cornering. The give away is that the camber of the wheel increases noticeably.
Alfano is correct, the NS arm went on my twinny. Looking from the rear the wheel was obviously more angled in to the body at the top and eventually had clunking and a definate "lurch" to the left when going round right handers eek!
