for all your advice. I don’t think it the pistons – they are usually noisier when cold, and oil consumption is at 1 L to 5k km / 3k miles of Castrol RS 10W-60. Listening to the engine trough an ion rod it’s the inlet cam probably the front end of it, i.e. the variator end. From inside the cabin it only when stating a hot engine you hear the clatter so no need yet to invest in at powerful car stereo – the one I’ve got copes so far. I, too, would rather hear the alfa notes from the engine - right or wrong ones.
I to would like to hear about the variator repair kit – the variator was change 60k km/38k miles ago on warranty. The dealer who did the change claimed 25k km/15k miles ago that for the time being the noise was noting to worry about and to go on until I couldn’t stand it anymore.
