ABS hydraulic unit 155 2.0

I noticed a loud humming noise coming from the car when it was parked. The noise was coming from the ABS unit under the bonnet it was also warm so it had been running for a while. I have pulled the 60 amp fuse to cut the supply before it burnt out. Am i correct in assuming the brakes will work OK and i just won't have ABS?

Brakes shpould be ok without ABS, as ABS doesn't normally cut in too many times, unless you really hammer them on into turns.

I know in some cases that the ABS can switch itself off, i.e. if it sees a sensor fault, but I'm sure in the handbook it does say that normal braking is still in use.
