So after two and a half years of faithful service my 155:a did not start. Extremely sad since I just a week before had serviced the car with new brakes, spark plugs and served the cam chain tensioner. The car was great and felt really refreshed, more powerful than before. But a week later the car refused to start. I bring it to the workshop school for automotive mechanics which I usually do when I have serviced the car before. Once there it was found that the car did have spark but the compression test yielded poor results on two of the cylinders. Number one cylinder had apparently only 2 in comp, best cylinder 8 in comp. They have not had time to look if the engine receives fuel but now I worry about the outcome of the comp test so incredibly. The car has certainly had a valve tick, but otherwise nothing strange. I ask myself one thing! How can it be that an engine that has never shown any ounce of blue smoke or for that matter white thick smoke, and always had a stable idling as a rock, always felt refreshed and powerful, never had starting problems before, suddenly die and show very bad results on two cylinders?
The car ought to become gradually more and more powerless if nothing else I would think. Someone who has had similar experience?
Can also add that the level of the coolant has been on the max in almost a year now, and certainly without any tendency for oil in the coolant and no oil has received a visit from the cooling water either. I Had a little trouble with leaking valvecover gasket but it is the only oil loss that has been noted.
May mention that the engine has gone 32000 kilometers. I stand for 4000 nearly flawless kilometers. Have certainly had rattles from cam chain since I bought the car but only a few minutes on a cold engine, then the rattle disappeared. When the chain tensioner was adjusted the rattle disappeared completely. The car has sometimes been a little jerky on a cold engine but it has disappeared when the engine become hot, with the exception of rapid acceleration on high gear at low rpm. Have only been to shift down and I have avoided these jerks. But as I said, these jerky have only occurred sporadically. He has never hesitated when I accelerate and goes pretty fast from 80 km/h to 170 km/h when the pedal has been pressed to the bottom on the fifth gear
Well I get more info on the engine status soon but if it is so I will have to swop engine. Will begin to look for a better one in Sweden first but it is hard to find carparts and complete engine here in Sweden. Is there anyone on this forum that has a engine for sale if i need to look outside Sweden? Its the 2.0 TS 8V direct ingnition engine.
