clutch problem
driving my 155 yesterday and had trouble selecting any gears for a minute , now it seems to be working fine gears changing smoothly but now if i press the clutch right to the floor it makes a small whine but if i lift the clutch a quarter inch it stops , im hoping clutch is ok could it be slave cylinder and fluid ?

I would check you gearbox oil but I don't think it is anything serious
|

hi conor its prob ok, if you want to check the slaveyou'll have to remove the battery, if you want it checked properly bring it i to Gerry in Ti Autos

thanks my friend , is the slave on the outside of gear box ? my 155 was sitting for nearly a year and im just putting it back on road , ive just finished the timing belt , balance belt and variator . I am doing the air filter ,oil filter and brakes on monday , so im wondering when i put brand new fluid in it might help problem , cluth uses same fluid right ?

clutch and brake fluid are the same, dot 4 if i remember. The cylinder is outside, remove the battery and the battery tray and you will see it, i replaced mine, its very easy and im a novice, its easiest to bleed the system with two people, i learned that the hard way

If its sat for a year it could be crap on the shaft on the clutch.

This is true, I'd forgotten about that !
It may also be rust on the flywheel making the clutch slip.

just a quick update got in my 155 today and clutch pedal was stiff but still going to floor and coming back up every time , but now it wont allow me to select any gear . i pumped both the clutch pedal and the brake pedal and i could feel the difference in the clutch pedal and it would allow me to drive up to end of road and back no problems but when i parked up it went back to not selecting gears . it will allow you to put it in reverse but it crunched and car just tried to take off in reverse which tells me that even with clutch pedal engaged clutch is not engaged, please help i dont wont to have to drop gear box and replace clutch as i am unemployed and would probably have to sell my dream car as i could not afford this

Check the slave cylinder
You could also check to see if the rod that goes between the slave and the clutch lever on the gearbox is moving when the clutch is depressed - by someone else of course.
If the rod is moving, then the slave would seem to be ok, and the problem is more likely to be clutch related, rather than hydraulics.
If the rod doesn't move, then your slave is probably fubar.

If the slave is moving wip theslave off pull the shaft out, the bit that sits in the rubber and put a nutt behind it. This will make the plunger travel further giving more press on the cluch, should give u a bit more life out of it till u can afford to get the job done.

You will find that the clutch has to be replaced. My car was doing exactly the same, and it was one broken spring in the pressure plate. And it wasnt until the spring got jammed, that was the end of the road with the tow truck besides it.
