Alfa Romeo 155 Q4 Body
i have some serious dilemma. Here is the think, i have bought one AR155 Q4 92 in a very bad shape and now i am trying to save her. I am doing it completely, restoring all the parts and accessories (engine, gearbox, transmission, electric components and so on). Problem i have is Body. First plan was to take welding machine and do the hard job to renew rusty pieces. But i had chance to buy one AR155 2.0 TS Super from 97 for spare parts, which is in marvelous shape, i have never seen cars in better shape than this one (even newer ones). Normally i would keep the car for driving, but owner cant be rewrite in papers (or certificate of roadworthiness) here in Czech Republic. Idea i am playing with is to take all the things from Q4 and put them into as "new" Body from 97 155. I am aware of different metal sheets in the spare wheel area, but we figured way to replace them. Only moral problem i am having is i have read that Q4 had reinforced Bodystructure then normal 155s. Trying to get some information how and where. If it is only matter of metal sheet thickness or some additional steel reinforcements? I think that even if we repair original body as good as we could, it still will be softer than 97 155 in great as "new" shape. So here i am hoping that some experienced and full of knowledge comrades will help me. What do you think?
Have a nice day
P.S.: Hope that i wrote that everyone get the message. And if not sorry for my bad english.
P.S.S.: Could some of the guys with Q4 send me some photos of intercooler water cooling? I mean spraying intercooler with water from boot. When i got away all the parts from boot, i found that hose is leading right to where intercooler is and figured that this car used to have this system, but previous owners took water tank from boot and washers from cooler. And can you explain to me how this system works? I heard that when raises pressure in intake it spray the cooler. Some photos of water tank in boot and washers of intercooler would be great. Thank you all!!!
