is coil pack misifre common?
my new 155 v6 has an issue with staying on all 6!
when i went to see her when for sale, she fired up fine, but whilst investigating a temp sensor issue previously disclosed, i brushed past the coil pack feed wiring, and she dropped onto 4 cylinders at best, and then cut out!
further wiggling and playing, led me to suspect a fracture in the wiring loom, the four wires (green, white, red, green/black) that feed the distribution coil.
it appeared quite awkwardly kinked, so i support it in a fashion by taping up to the battery handle, that seemed to have it firing on all six, just to get me and my new beloved home, which she did, very proud!
however, today i have stripped back some insulation, and tested for continuity across the suspected section, no apparent breaks in the wires!
i dismantled the plug into the coil, and found no issues there either.
so took the distribution coil off its mounts, but being a sealed unit, there is nothing much i can do except look at the connection quality, but all apppeared to be great, odd!
i found nothing, so re-insualted everything, re fitted everything, and it seems to be ok since, but i would rather have found something and affected a proper repair to be honest.
are the coil packs themselves known to give any trouble at all?
could it be that the connections internally are at fault?
any experience would be greatly appreciated
