Sell or strip?

My 155 has blown its head gasket. Boooooooooo.

Would get it replaced, however it was already replaced 6months to a year ago.
Should I strip it down and sell the parts or just accept it and stick it on ebay for pennies?
Its in great condition with many new parts apart from this.
Cant afford to throw another £500 at it again.
Any ideas?

155s are a slow breaker, we don't bother looking for them to break any more, and only buy them if we are in need of specialist parts, ECUs etc. It would be a shame for it not to be fixed, but no-one will want to pay more than £300 for it as it stands.

I think you should fix it.. Try doing it yourself if you don't want to pay someone else to do it, worse case scenario you **** it up and it is still broken, you haven't lost anything

If you broke two HG's in 6 months, then whoever fixed it didn't do it very well. Can't you get them to do it again (but properly) for free or discounted rate?

Buy a decent gasket this time.. Spesso or Victor Reinz.

Agreed. When the HG goes the TS almost always needs to be skimmed and pressure tested. If it wasn't then I would imagine this will be the fault

One of the lads at work did it (work in a Truck / van dealership) and I just paid him cash in hand. Doh! We had the head skimmed at the time but cant remember if it was pressure tested. It was a full headset too, Payen if I remember correctly. with new Timing belt. (after I had the Timing belt kit etc fitted not long before that)
Ive had it checked and "sniff" tested, apparantly its pressurising too fast and the sniff test said the gasket had gone.
It will idle fine though, but will boil the coolant after 5 miles. (was stuck in the highlands when it went!) compared to last time the headgasket went, when the coolant would dissappear and the oil level would increase and clouds of white smoke would come from the exhaust. Its not doing any of that now.

TBH now ive got the Subaru as the main daily driver I am just going to put the normal wheels on and stick it on ebay. and sell my alloys seperatly. (no there not black speedlines - sorry)

Disappointing i know, but need to get rid and hopefully make a little bit of money back on the whole job.
Thanks for all your help though guys.

For the record Seb, had it running on saturday, Had to put the original wheels back on, so pulled it into the workshop.
Started 1st time, (been sitting for a month!) and happily sat and idled (monitered of course) for 10 minutes.
Coolant absolutely fine and never even went near overheating.
I know if i drove it for a couple of miles, it would overheat though. Be good if it went to another alfisti, rather than to a scrapyard. You probably have a good idea which bits to keep.

Good luck mate.
