I am running a jetex filter on mine. Makes a fantastic noise. I removed all the box and pipe work up to the MAF. The filter sits on a bracket.

The BMC CDA is possibly the best design of setup. It has a highflow cloth filter, but encases it, to prevent sucking in hot (engine) air, then has a cold air intake pipe.

I don't think there's a specific 155 2.0 16V 'kit', so you would use one of their universal setups, and secure it with metal brackets. Probably no big deal if you're handy with this kind of work - and I'm sure many Alfa tuning workshops have fitted them before if you need it installed.

It replaces the factory air box, and attaches to the airflow meter.

They are meant to have great induction noise too, and provide higher airflow (for what that's worth!).

Most of these 'cone' filters (or whatever shape) can sound good, but unless they are encased in a 'box' of sorts, will suck in hot engine air. This is never good for performance. So it depends what you really want.

Many people - including myself, though mine is an 8V - drill large holes into the factory air box; I drilled about 12x 12mm diameter holes in the bottom. This improves flow, and creates that growly induction noise that cone filters provide. Mine sounds great. I use a K&N panel filter, but you could use any other drop-in replacement filter (BMC, Pipercross, etc).

So it's another option for you: higher flow panel filter + holes in factory air box.

.

This is the age old arguement of power on the filter. TThe argument against this is that on a rolling road airflow is not as good which is why the drop in performance shows up where as on the road the heat is less of a factor. To be honest the car feels better with it. If your tha worried then fit a cold air feed.

As for the noise I have not heard the K & N however the jetex is a very course filter with larger holes than the K & N so its much more noisy. Its almost like throttle bodies its that loud. Honestly you'd have to see it to believe it. If you lived in my area i'd say pop down and have a listen!

Good call mate. The jetex is a bit abusive on the noise. I like abusive!
