alfa 155 2.0 stalled when started up

hi all i just started up my 155 no probs but it then just died so tried again gave it some revs and its been ok anyone know why or what could cause this also in the last week it has been nearly stalling when slowing or stopping at lights or whatever but after a few secs it runs fine again could this be spark plugs it has a new air filter and there is black carbon on exhaust tip could this be connected thanks for any help advice mark

You will probably need to give the idle control valve a good clean out. It can get quite sooted up. You can fill it with carb cleaner, cover the opening and shake it for a while.

Sorry to keep an old thread going...
But had this problem with mine today. came about all of a sudden and was really annoying me.
Quick look on this thread especially with pictures and I did it myself, had to scrape the carbon off an with generous use of electrical cleaner and an airhose at work, cleaned and put back on.
Simple 5 mins fix.
