Water Temp Sensor?

Hi all, it's my first fault....!
Car starts on cold start fine, then from 60oC to approx 70oC it has a noticable flat spot under acceleration and an inconsisent idle... Once the car warms it runs perfectly, could the water temp sensor be at fault? If so where is it situated and where would I be able to buy one?

Cleaned out the ICV? I have the same issues as you, cleaned the ICV Saturday & it worked perfect, its back to being a bit tempremental though, think I may have damaged it.

faulty sensor would give you an irratic idle and higher fuel economy amongst other things. temp sensor for ecu is on thermostat housing, very easy to replace. Will cost you about £20-30. ebay has 'em, I would suggest your local stealer though

Thanks guys, dont think its the ICV as once it warm there are no issues... I will try my dealer, Mervyn Stewart in the morning... I hope its a common part, as I reckon 155s are a rare beast here in N.I!

Had pretty much what you describe on another engine once - the ECU water temp sender was OK when cold, OK when hot...but at about 60 degrees it went open circuit, which made the ECU think it had suddenly got rather chilly..... You could drive through it but if you had to stop and idle the car, it would stall.

I know for sure it was this - I had an aftermarket ECU on it at the time and could log what was going on - temp rose gradually as normal, then fell to -50, then jumped back to 70 a few minutes later.

So, yes, try changing it first for sure. It's a stock Bosch item so shouldn't be uncommon.
