Hello to all,
I have a problem with my alfa and I hope someone can help before it becomes another major one!!
I had my cam belt done about 2k miles ago after it had snapped and of course made a mess of the valves in the process (£1600 out of pocket). Not the cars fault, it was mine for leaving it too long, so I took myself to one side and had a stern word with me.
The issue now is that I get a horrible ticking noise from the engine when it is cold. As soon as the engine gets up to temp it stops and the car runs fine. Its not the usual noise of a cold diesel it's a noise that makes you cringe when you hear it.
Sounds like its coming from the top drivers side of the engine, but these things can be decieving I know.
I put some addative into the oil in case it's a hyd lifter sticking and also some in the fuel to lube the fuel pump, but that had no impact.
Has anyone had a similar problem? I don't want to spend another large sum of money on her, but it seems like she's dying on me
Took it back to the garage and he said that if it was something they had done he would sort it, but if not it could be more money in large chunks. The only way to see is to go down that route, but you then commit to spending again if they find something else.
Cheers in advance Mark.
P.S. only an alfa could get away with treating you like this and still make you smile when you look at it.
