Some minor updates.
*fitted a new set of Continental ExtremeContact DW 215/40ZR17 87W tyres, replacing Bridgestone RE001 205/40 84W; the comfort has improved a smidge which is good, and the load index now meets factory requirement (at least 85); but, go figure, I now have significant tyre rub on the plastic inner splash guards! I've had to cut out a small section on the driver side, and will put up with the rest cos it's only intermittent
*had some proper hub rings machined; previous ones were not a perfect fit; so these suit my Enkei wheels, with 75mm outer diameter, and 58.1mm inner diameter:
*as part of my routine service, I had a new waterpump and thermostat fitted; wow, more power/torque! I hadn't appreciated that the old thermostat wasn't working properly, though the engine coolant temp was running low at 75 degrees celcius; as such, the ECU was tricked into thinking the car was still 'warming up', and running things rich; now, the temp runs pretty much on 90 degrees as expected, and the ECU is happily leaning out the mix for better performance; very noticable improvement
*had a 200 cell per inch highflow cat fitted today; the exhaust is now fully aftermarket, with manifolds/front pipe with flexi, flowing into highflow cat then onto a silenced centre pipe, then Remus backbox; excuse the camera-phone low res pic:
Finally, I have bought off ebay-GER a metal air plenum for the engine, to replace the plastic one. It will give me the opportunity to spray paint it, as well as the cam cover. So I'll post photos when it's done.
