Help 155 brake compensator valve

Does the 155 have a compensator valve fitted on them?
I ask because My local garage has done some recent brake work, bled the system up and now the pedal is awful, travelling to floor nearly. They have told me it could be the master cylinder but I find that hard to beleive as it was perfectly ok before they touched it. I have been told the could be a compensator valve somewhere on the car. Is this true? Please help.

it does have a compesator valve, but it wouldnt cause this, sounds like its been bleed incorrectly possible air in the rears....

normally when the compensator starts to go, you loose rear brake effort, but doesnt effect pedal travel tho, unless you have a leak in the system

Re: 155 brake compensator valve

It didn't have a leak before the work. They did replace the rear brake lines and said they'd had trouble bleeding the system up. Needless to say they do still have the car to attempt to rectify the problem.

Re: 155 brake compensator valve

Bit of a pain I'm afraid - as touched upon in a thread last week, when bleeding the back brakes the weight needs to be on the wheels. Just a case of bleed, bleed and bleed again until it's right. I replaced rear lines a couple of years ago and found your problem of soggy pedal - it took about half a dozen goes to get it right, but paid off as I got the comment of 'some of the best rear disk effort we've seen' at the following MOT!

Re: 155 brake compensator valve

Hmm.... I changed my brake pipes and had no aggro' at all bleeding the system.

If they have an air-pressure bleed system they should be able to fill up the reservoir, put the pressure cap on, open the bleed nipple and watch the fluid come out. If they are manually bleeding, it's the sme deal....

There's nothing weird about '55 brakes... it's "a Tipo on steroids" after all..

Re: 155 brake compensator valve

Turns out it's the master cylinder gone. Garage are unable to locate one, so I'll have ago myself..

Right then..

Does anyone know the whereabouts of a brake master cylinder for my '97 155 2.0?

I will post in 'Parts wanted'.
