Petrol smell!!!!!!!!

I ve just aquired a 2nd 155. Its not been started for around 6th months. When i finally got it started the inside of the car stunk of petrol . Why is this any ideas

Check the connections to the fuel tank under a plastic cover at the rear of the boot, they often leak and would cause petrol smells inside rather than out. Be careful not to shear off the nut/stud holding the connections in place if you have to remove them. Mine (V6) seems to smell occasionally when the drivers window is open at low speed and I'm going to check that the petrol fume canister under the header tank does not have a leaky connection to it, as everything else seems fine.

also check all the flexible parts of the fuel lines, especially under the hood where they tend to get exposed to heat, mine failed a few years ago already on both sides of the fuel rail (1992 2.0 8v) and it's not an exception. if the leak is bad enough you definetly get high inside the car...
