I assume you checked all fuses already?
the switch on the steering column should feed a realy, which should be listed in the owners manual. Remove that relay and bridge it's output. if the starter is still good it should go (contact on, ofcourse).
If it does go, check if you get a feed from keybarrel when you put it to cranking. if you do, the relay is at fault, if you don't the key barrel or the switch is faulty...
