Re: Alfa 155s - overview

key being you ran the car on reserve, the fuel filter could very well be blocked.. Had the same thing once, but mine just stopped revving at 5k rpm... a new filter instantly solved this, as suddenly as it began...

I got a very good price so it was quite a bargain. However I had some minor issues with the suspension, brakes and stuff, which I already fixed. The worst thing about it is generally the exterior. It's all scratched, bumped and broken.

I actually write to ask you guys about something else. At first you have to know that I have an LPG installed And a 3-option swith. The options are: gasoline, LPG (starts at gasoline, switches by 3000 rpm) and, I think - a mix..., or LPG with the gasoline support when starting... I don't really know.

Anyway, my alfa is now not mobile. While I was working on it the other day, I had to fire up the engine several times, and the fuel was at the reserve. So when i finished working and I wanted to start the engine - it did not start. At first I thought that I just ran out of fuel, so I got some. It was really hard to start the engine, bu finally I observed that it only started at the "mix" possition, and with the help of me pushing the accelerator pedal. What's more, when it started, I had to keep it rotating by keeping the pedal pushed. When i released it, the engine "choked" and stopped.

It is really impossible to drive like this so i had to get it hauled back to my place.

And the last, but perhaps the most important thing - the "injector" indicator on the instrument panel is turned on.

What I think is that some dirt from the bottom of the fuel tank got into the fuel instalation or/and to the injectors. Can you think of anything else? And what should I do with this? Friends tell me to check and clean the fuel pump. Should I do anything else?

My problem is that I don't have any pit or anything like this, so getting to those elements would probably be tough...

Anyway, I know this is kind of not this topic, so if you want, just move this post or something... ;]

Thanks for Your answers.

A 1.8 155 8v with the sport kit - lovely car! A pity they didn't carry on with the 2.0 8v until the end of the 155.

I think the seats are from the Lancia Delta II, the Dedra/Tipo based one we did not get here.

Re: Alfa 155s - overview

Yeah, well, just replaced the fuel filter. Nothing changed. It's exactly the same as before. The injector indicator is still on.

Something started to burn and smoke came from below. When i looked there, i saw that the smoke came from somewhere near the middle silencer (which is a little leaky near the weld) I would have thought that those were exhaust fumes, but they definitely smelled like burned... rubber... maybe. Is it possible that the silencer is blocked and it gets too hot? I tried to hang it a little higher the other day, maybe too high?

Should I check the fuel pump or go strait to injectors? Is there anything else that might be causing this?

Re: Alfa 155s - overview

missed the part about the injector light staying on.... that can mean anything really, but most importantly that something is wrong that'll feck with emissions (that's the official meaning of the injector light).

did you touch the lambda sensor by any chance while working on the exhaust? it's located approx. where you smell the burning rubber which you should check out anyway...
