Buying a 155

Taking a mate to look at a 155 tomorrow which he is keen as mustard to buy. It's a red 2.0 litre done 80k+miles which sounds yummy- any tips on we should be looking for?

Re: Buying a 155

The biggie is when was the cam-belt last changed. Recommendation for 16v engines is now every 36,000 miles. If this one was done recently, check that the tensioner was also changed, as it's these that die, not the belt.

If it sounds like a diesel on start-up that's the cam variator. You can live with a rattly one but to change that and the cambelt/tensioner is a £400 job.

At 80k find out when the clutch was replaced. It could have an almost new one, or a worn out one.

Radiator (£90) gets moolahed through the front slots. Have a peek.

Any clonking from the front suspension if the wishbones... circa £60 so not fatal..
