"VDC System Failure" '03' 147

Hi all,

i got a "VDC system failure" error message on my 147 a few days ago. Immediately followed by a "selespeed system failure error message.

I switched the car off - then switched it on again after a few minutes... and now it runs fine...

has anyone had a similar experience?
should i be concerned?

and i hope you all had a good Christmas!!

The VDC, yes quite normal, especically in my experience when the car been sat in the damp overnight or i've just washed it.

There are ton's of posts here about VDC failures, unless it does it everytime you drive, I woundn't do anything more about it.

The sillyspeed, not too sure, got meself a 6-speeder, and three pedels..

Hi Yeah, iv had exactly the same experience and now i cant engage gears, i have been informed that it could be a number of things but the main thing is the battery, also that this could have an effect on the ECU and start throwing up all sorts of problems and other warnings as well, such as light failures all round.

Me too, mine tends to come on every coupe of weeks, but only after cold start in the morning, never happened when warm. I just switch it off and on again, like windows and its fine!

i would start at the cheapest option and replace your battery.

Had a similar experience myself, if it continues with more frequency I would suspect the battery.

Mines a '02 and 50k on the clock and it was the original battery that had given up, checked with a multimetre, good voltage when standing but with ignition on (under load) dropped to about 6v (not good).
