Re: Motor control system failure 147 JTD 16v
Hang on a minute, the original thread was started for a MCSF on a JTD 16v, someone else is asking about an 8v JTD, Robbo, you're asking about a 1.6 petrol and Oldboy says his wife's 2.0 petrol was caused by a crankshaft failure. All we need now is for someone to chime in with a GTA and we're diagnosing problems across the board of 147s! Mine was caused by turbo overboost even though the board swore blind it would be the battery ... or the MAF ... or the EGR valve ...
You can't compare these errors, the MCSF is a generic warning thrown up on the dash to tell you something's wrong. This could be generated by any number of sensors, connectors, cables or computers on the car.
Take it to a garage who know Alfas and get the fault codes read out. The main dealer in my case were useless, they could read the fault codes but they didn't know what they meant so they went chasing sensors until the local Alfa specialist indie read the faults, it was diagnosed it in 2 minutes and fixed in 30.
