Disaster Fuel Consumption 147

Hello there ,

Could anyone help me please My 147 1.8 Alfa Consumption is 17L / 100 KMs , and i have no knowladge why some advice me to change the Variator because of its Diesel like sound and say it would help the fuel is it true ?

Are you sure it is a 1.8? As far as I am aware the 147 was only ever offered as a 1.6 and a 2.0.

what temperature is the guage showing when the engine has warmed up? Does it change at speed?

When was the timing belt last replaced and was the correct timing tools used?

Check the lambda (oxygen) sensers in the exhaust and Air flow sensor in the inlet. Disconnect them in turn and run the car for a bit and see if there is a change.
