If you get a good 156 V6 you may not want the 166 in the end.
I would advise buying the best you can afford, get a top spec model too 'cos they aren't any dearer 2nd hand.
For the 2.5 V6 expect low 20's fuel consumption, 30 is possible but it aint gonna happen too often
The V6 also eats front tyres, as to the suspension noises, they all make a noise when cold, and get quieter as you go on
I have been told this is can be quitened down with silicone spray but I havent tried it yet.
Gearbox (6 speed on the 2.5
) is a joy to use, you will find yourself up and down the 'box and the revs a lot as it sounds so damn good.
Steering is pin sharp and one of the 156's best features.
Expect any bolts you need to undo to be siezed and you won't be disapointed.
I don't believe there is a better car out there for the money, or even twice as much. Go get one pal.
