147 rear wiper

while in a passing shower i realised the rubber on my rear wiper is hanging on by a thread, and flailing aroung like a strand of spaghetti in a sandstorm every time the wiper moves. just had a look on wiperblades.co.uk and they only sell the arm and blade for 7 quid. for that price its surely worth getting one? or shall i just replace the rubber? if so then where can i get it from? thanks

Re: 147 rear wiper

Hi there and welcome. If it were me i would replace just the blade but if the price of a blade and the whole wiper arm is a matter of couple of quid difference then i would just get the whole wiper arm.......

I didn't think you could just get a blade. I was under the impression you had to by an arm and blade together. £14 from a dealer, so you should be be able to find a cheaper independent one. (halfords don't do them).

Re: 147 rear wiper

go to wilkinsons, buy a cheap blade of the correct lenght, then swap the rubber over to your current rear wiper blade. job done for £1.

Re: 147 rear wiper

When I replace my front wipers I always keep the old blades as they can be cut down and will do nicely for the rear.

Re: 147 rear wiper

Yeah I looked at doing that yesterday as I did that same trick countless times on my old Metro 1.1

but the fitting isnt the same, the rear slides about on a thinner bit of plastic on the arm, the front ones wont be able to fit, well mine won't, they are Bosch something or other.
Different thickness.

I just rang Halfords, they do rear refills, 16", 18" and 22", and they can be cut to size.

Thing is the 16" is £6.99 anyway!

could try Wilkos but I guess I'll have to take in the current blade to match it up. Seems like a bespoke fitting.
Have you tried this jug?
Do they have rear fitting ones?

The wiperblades 'Champion' one is now £4.45 but out of stock so I have emailed them to ask when they get more in...

Ah, occurred to me for the first time yesterday as I was replacing the fronts; cut the nearside down but seemingly not by enough, so attempted to pup it back out..............ended up ripping one of the carrier spiders off the arm by splitting the pivot.....oh well it must be the original so has lasted a good 6 years.

Damn it, why didn't I do a search for retro fit flat blades BEFORE i went into Halfords last night?
