156 Tickover 4000 revs and rising
This one has me beat. Car is 156 1.8 Twin spark cable throtle. I had not driven it for about a week, when I started it the revs went upto 4000 and continued to slowly rise to 5000 when I turned it off. The throttle body continues to tick even when the ignition is off. Reseating the downstream connector kills the ticking until next time switched on.
Things tried so far :-
Oil vapour separator valve replaced as guess what, no spring or plunger found ( where do they go to ).
Battery off for 45min to reset Energey management unit.
Tick over reset (90 sec on 90 sec off).
Unpluged the MAF, no change so put back on.
Air pipe is 1 year old with no cracks.
Have cleaned the throttle body with car cleaner twice in the past because of eratic tickover, which it fixed.
Will try for bad battery connection as battery only one year old, and then charge it for a day.
At a loss of what to try now.
When it does not work, Reiki it.
