Re: Puntomatt: a broken man??
The cost of the LSD is that money, not the cost of fitting.
Yes it is a days labour. (in puntomatts case, as so much work may need doing, subframe down, gearbox off engine, it would not be a day extra)
The box comes in 3 parts - bell housing - gear box - and final drive/diff.
The 5 and 6 speed use a different bell housing as the fly wheels are different.
the 6 speed gear box (not bell housing or diff) can be interchanged if the crown wheel was changing also, what I man is the casing is the same albeit somewhat longer to take the 6th gear.
The diff casing will interchange between the two. The crown wheel bolts to the diff itself.
The diff case may be larger on one than the other due to the crown wheel being bigger on one (17/54 & 15/57 ring a bell but may not be correct - final drives - amount of teeth) but again are interchangeable.
So, bell housing is different, but gear box (1/3) and diff can be changed, so you could make the JTD a 6 speed but the ratios would be too short.
You could make the V6 a 5 speed with long ratios, but what's the point?
More info on the Q2 can be found in the 10+page long Q2 discussion, you will also get links on where to buy from, and the supplier will also confirm fitment to either a 10v JTD or V6 box.
Also fits the 1.9JTD box I believe (yes different flywheel etc) as this box is basically a V6 box with the same V6 final drive, but the 6 gears inside are different ratios, as aposed to the 2.4JTD where the final drive is different as well as missing the last cog.
