look, if you have loads of cash or do low mileage buy a V6
.. but on my 30k + a year its practically like paying a second mortgage to run the thing! 600 miles a week I was doing, even if money were no object I am not sure I could justify running one of few remaining Busso's into the ground as a work hack...they deserve better IMO.
anyway that would have been £140 a week in petrol,..
two fill ups definitely which is what I did on that mileage with my previous JTS so around £7,280 a year. Just on fuel, add another £1000 for servicing (on 30k + a year 3 services and £800 for tires two full sets @ £100 a corner...and cambelts and wishbones every other year and its 10k a year to run it.
The diesel will do those miles on ONE fill up a week ,so monthly fuel outgoings are in reality halved. I have actually done it, all be it 2.0 JTS vs 1.9 derv, but My fuel bill halved ..as the JTS averaged around 28 MPG on my commute derv got me 50-60..it very simply equated to one vs two visits to the fuel pumps a week.
the V6 has to be worse than the JTS in real world terms, so for those of you that have a V6 great, enjoy, they are frickin fantastic and I have loved every one I have driven. but don't go trying to convince us or yourself that they are a reasonable proposition to anyone with higher mileage as a daily driver...they just are not...neither is a jag xk8, or a V8 DB9 or a Maserati 3200...large displacement petrol engines are just not a commuters choice unless you are A) a premiership footballler or B) made of money.
