The cambelt is only a few months old, I doubt it has jumped a tooth - it also doesn't match the intermediate nature of the fault at first.
There was never a misfire, only the total lack of power like chronic fuel starvation. It sounded normal but wouldn't rev.
Derek from Alfadiag has been in contact saying that it should not loose connection when cranking the engine on the key unless my battery is a bit naff.
Thanks for telling me where the sensor is located - I spent ages trawling Google for images of its location, but to no avail. Couldn't even find a drawing of the engine showing its location. Call me mad, but I hope to remove it tomorrow morning first thing so I can get the correct replacement. Alfa tell me there are 2 types, one with a long lead and one with a short one, (one is £45 and one is £90), and it could be either.
