Re: 156 Wiper motor
Hello everyone. My first post.
I got some good advice in this thread, and others, that helped me sort out my 156 wiper problems, so a big Thank You all round.
My wiper problem was due to the white plastic wheel that is driven by the motor and that itself in turn drives the blades basically having its teeth eaten away over time and being unable to turn any more.
I ordered a used part to replace it, but once installed the wipers wouldn't stop! I checked all the connections / sockets / etc, cleaned them up, but still the same problem. Finally, after looking in here, I cleaned all the grease off the metal plate that sits on top of the white plastic wheel, and sandpapered the contacts, which were heavily tarnished. And it worked, thankfully.
I'm on my seventh Alfa now. The last one was in 2002, due to living in Hong Kong for 5 years (you don't want a car there...) and I am happy to report that my good luck with Alfa reliability continues... wiper motors and the odd other niggle aside.
