Following on from Typos1's point about weight there is a durth of information regarding wheel weights and this is especially so from after market brands. The unsprung weight makes a considerable difference to the ride and on some 17s (let alone 18s) the 147's ride suffers noticeably. They ride well on 15s but then the wheels look a bit lost in the arches. So 16s and light weight 17s would be my choice between ride and handling. It's difficult to have it all I suppose.
Youre so right about the lack of info about weight, shops think youre mad if you ask, but it makes such a difference.
And used ones on ebay ? Most people on there havent a clue what offset, pcd or centre bore are, they just think you can stick a set of wheels on state the size and someone can fit em to their car.
So imagine the pain it is to find some that are light - most people are clueless to what the pcd, the centre bore and the offset are and dont mention it, so asking how much they weigh on top of asking what the pcd/offset/centre bore are and then having to explain what they all mean and why people need to know before they buy, well most sellers really cant be bothered to reply, its a real ballache.
But well worth it.
