156 2.4 20V engine in late 10V shell?
Not been on here for some time but I'm planning a bit of a rebuild on a 156. I have a 2002 156 2.4 10V (facelift dash) Sportwagon with a good shell, and tired engine.
I have recently bought a 2.4 20v, but it's very rotten underneath, and the bodywork isn't as good as the 10V either.
I know all the running gear from the 20V will bolt into the 10V shell, but as far as the wiring goes, is everything engine related on a separate engine loom that plugs into the main car loom? In which case the swap can be done.
I would assume it can as the car looms will also have to accomate the JTS engine so should be a case of swapping everything over. I've rebilt quite a few cars, modern and classics and done engine conversions, but I need this to be a straight swap without having to chop wiring!
On another note, although the GM box in the 20V works fine and has a recent new DMF and d/shafts, will the Alfa 10v 5 speed or the 1.9 6 speed fit? I'm assuming the 20V bottom end is the same as the 10V, so could I fit a 10V flywheel and clutch to the engine and the Alfa box? Not a major thing right now, I just know the GM box and the d/shafts particularly aren't considered to be great.
Thanks in advance for any info!
