New GT. New Clutch (and the rest)
Ive just rescued a GT (1.9JTDM) ; returning to Alfas after a few years.
She needs some TLC.
First (well nearly) besides fixing the airbag light fault, tail gate light fault, replacing the glow plugs, sorting the passenger door trim, drivers door strap, and gear linkage is a new clutch. The bite is right at the top and although not slipping in any gears does need doing.
Having forgotten the joy of Alfa ownership, and now reminded after calling a few Indy's i've been quoted between £600-1200 to replace the clutch and DMF. Which leads me on, i'm considering a solid mass kit - there seems to be pro's and cons (price being one) my question is, if i do go down the solid mass - is this still a job for an Alfa specialist? it seems that with DMFs the newer ones have some sort of adjustment that requires specialist tools which i doubt most garages that can whip a clutch in and out of will have. I'm figuring that with 150k on the clock its a case of must replace the DMF hence the consideration for a solid mass.
As an aside, thanks to the forum ill be doing most of the niggles myself - cheers!
Thereafter - i'm in the Didcot/Newbury area - any recommendations of local garages or Indys?
