After reading the issue on changing the doors,i disagree with the previous comments.
I have changed many doors on the 156,saloon and sw and was surprised by how easy it was at my 1st attempt.
2x10mm bolts on the hinges and a sliding collor on the electrical connector, and then there free to lift off, just be careful during removal that you don't scrape paintwork on other door as there is little room if doing it on your own.
Refitting can be slightly more difficult if it doesn't line up 1st go,if adjustment is necessary,a spare pair of hands can be off great assistance if taking off and on to fine tune.
Painting and colour matching is difficult, usually only noticeable when fitted,of course you have shelled out good money for parts and then maybe more to colour match,so it is a bit of a gamble.
In my experience i would suggest to get it repaired and colour matched 1st off if you can find a cheap local recommended painter, that is of course unless your not bothered about a slight difference in shade, you can pick-up a good door for about £50-75.
I have 4 doors off a 2001 156 SW in silver if your interested
