oil leaks still

ok im getting sick of this oil consumption AND oil leak issue.

im burning (or leaking, its vanishing either way) upwards of 1L per 700 miles now and its annoying me having to check the thing every week without fail.

i know the oil leak is minor (drop or 2 every other day maybe) and that 99.9% of alfas burn a stupid amount of oil but this is crazy.

i've been looking into a number of products that are ment to 'stop leaks' or 'reduce consumption' or 'repair metal-metal contact points'... but im confused. Wynns seem to be the leading company for such products. they do a stop leaks thing and a 'stop smoke' thing...

my questions...

do they work, even a bit? im not asking for a miricle cure here...

can i chuck both in at once or is it one then the other?? will they not upset each other or will one do the job of both...

Re: oil leaks still

I have never tried them, but I would say they probably work a bit, as otherwise they wouldn't get away with selling them. I would doubt they lasted too long though.

I would say its better to try one type at a time as well otherwise they might upset each other as you say, or even mess around with the properties of the oil.

Re: oil leaks still

As long as it is compatible with the synthetic oil, BTW also have a drip no one can fix but have learned to live with it

Re: oil leaks still

imo the only way to fix a leak is to identify it and then repair it. super magic additives never work, but then you knew that already

since you cant find a leak i would think your piston rings and/or valve stem oil seals are the problem.
