alfa 156 engine squeal after aux belt removed!?

Ive recently got a squeal coming from the engine constantly after startup but doesnt increase with engine speed and today i took off the aux belt and started the car to narrow down the problem and check the pulleys/belt etc and the squealing/chirping is still there?

Anyone any ideas on what it could be?

I removed the timing belt cover to see if the timing belt tensioner was failing and causing the noise but everything seems fine! The timing belt was done about a year ago.

Any help much appreciated

What else was changed with the belt? The pulleys don't last forever and the water pump is a known weakness.

What engine do you have.?
I would be concerned it is the waterpump starting to sieze if it is a 16 or 20valve Diesel.
